Environmental Education Centre,

Mountain Paths and Habitat Restoration

The trust would like to see considerable development at Cairngorm Mountain, allowing as many people as possible to enjoy outdoor activities around this amazing natural asset. However, we also recognise that the Northern Corries are a unique area, home to many rare species, which need to be protected. We wish to engage with land neighbours such as the RSPB, Forestry Commission, Rothiemurchus Estate and Conservation groups to try and find innovative ways to develop the area without reducing biodiversity or creating scars on the landscape.

We want to continue the work being done to improve paths around the area and add relevant interpretative displays; we would also like to look at restoring and creating habitat for wildlife in both Corries, particularly around the Ciste base station area. Our plans include an Environmental Education Centre as part of the Coire na Ciste development which would double up as a ski school meeting place in Winter.
